The Peters Township Police Department hosts a Citizen’s Police Academy at the Police Department, 200 Municipal Drive, McMurray, PA 15317. The program expands the citizen’s knowledge and understanding of the law and explores police procedures. Participants are taught the basics of criminal law with emphasis on the crimes code and vehicle code. The program also includes patrol tactics, the processing of crime scenes, interview and interrogation and many other subjects. This course is designed to be in a classroom setting and requires no physical abilities or requirements.
Citizen's Police Academy - Fall 2022 Session
The Citizen’s Police Academy Fall 2022 Session is scheduled to begin September 20, 2022 and end November 15, 2022. The program will be held each Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. for 9 weeks. Class size is limited to 25 participants to allow greater interaction between students and instructors.
Citizens are selected from interested applicants. Preference will be granted to Peters Township residents. All interested persons must be 18 years of age or older, complete an application, sign a release and waiver from liability, and give permission for the Peters Township Police Department to conduct a background check.
