Fire Station 3 Construction Progress
Peters Township, PA - Construction of fire station 3 is starting to take shape. Over the last couple of months the excavation, ground work and footers have been completed. This week the walls are being framed in. The fire department is continuing to take pictures of the project and updating the progress of the construction on the fire department website. You can check the website periodically for updates. Visit the fire station 3 page for updates
The construction of fire station 3 is scheduled to be completed in early 2023. The fire station will be equipped with a fire engine and squad pickup truck. The fire engine is currently being built by Pierce Manufacturing. This engine will replace an aging apparatus that originally served as our rescue truck and was repurposed as our reserve pumper. Ensuring that our fire apparatus are replaced on a regular schedule allows us to uphold our long-standing commitment to providing the best in public safety! The replacement engine is also planned to be completed for an early 2023 delivery. We’ll keep you updated on this project as we get photos and information from the manufacturer.
How Fire Station 3 will improve response to Venetia
In 2020, Peters Township Council and Administration began the process of exploring the need and location for a third fire station. Currently, the township is covered by two fire stations, one of which is fully staffed 24/7 on East McMurray Road. While this staffing ensures an immediate response for emergencies, response times to our fastest growing residential neighborhoods in Venetia can be significant. Pictured to the right is a rendering of future Fire Station #3, which will be located on Bebout Road toward the intersection of Venetia Road. This station will reduce response times for emergencies in Venetia significantly. 25% of the calls handled by the fire department are overlapping. This means that while the crews are already on one emergency another separate emergency call is happening at the same time. This station and staffing model will allow us to handle the call volume for Peters Township.
