Zoning and Code Enforcement

About Zoning and Code Enforcement

Enforcing the Township's Zoning and Property maintenance codes is a vital day-to-day component of the Township Planning Department. These codes help to ensure that the Township remains an attractive and safe community for its residents and visitors, and provides the Planning Department a process to address problematic properties.

Code Enforcement Procedure

The Township's Code of Ordinances lays out clear procedures for addressing properties that are in violation of the Township's Zoning Ordinance or Property Maintenance Code. These procedures can vary depending on the complexity of the violation at hand, but typically include a notice being provided to the property in question, followed by an appearance before the district magistrate if the violation is not addressed.

The Township is always looking for new ways to improve its property maintenance standards and enforcement procedures, so stay tuned for any proposed changes in the future. The New Flash section of the Planning Department site will highlight any proposed changes.

If you have any questions about Zoning or Code Enforcement in the Township, please contact the Planning Department at 724-942-5005.
