Chief's Welcome
Welcome to the Peters Township Police Department website. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Joseph Glover, and I have worked for the Peters Township Police Department since May of 2020. I was appointed as the Chief of Police on December 11th, 2023. I began my career in law enforcement in 1995 as a Member of the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). Over the course of my 25-year career with PSP, I was fortunate to have experienced many facets of police work including patrol, criminal investigations, training and finally administration. Upon being promoted to Lieutenant, I was assigned as the Assistant Director of the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission, ultimately retiring from Troop D, in Butler. After my retirement from PSP, I worked as a Patrol Officer for Peters Township Police Department and was later assigned back to the State Police as a Task Force Officer for the Auto Theft Task Force. My wife and I have been Township residents since 2004 and all 3 of our daughters attended Peters Township schools from kindergarten through graduation.
Peters Township is a flourishing community that has approximately 24,000 residents. The primary focus of the Police Department is to provide a safe environment for those who reside, work, or traverse our community.
Our patrol officers present a visible deterrent to crime while providing a sense of safety and security for all. We believe it is important to establish a firm relationship with our residents, our business community, and our faith-based community. In our efforts to accomplish this goal, we place a high value on the continued training and professional development of our officers. More specifically, our training focus entails going above and beyond the mandatory minimums established by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission for police officers.
We boast several specialized units within the Department to include Investigations, Bicycle Patrol, Motorcycle Patrol, District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, and School Resource Officers. Additionally, we belong to the South Hills Area Council of Governments (SHACOG), which is a cooperative group of municipalities. This membership enables us to assign officers to the SHACOG Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), the SHACOG Support Team (SST), and the SHACOG Crash Reconstruction Team. Each one of these specialized units provide resources and support to our community.
This website is intended to provide insight into the services and opportunities offered by our department.
