Position Overview:
Police Officers perform general police work throughout the Township with the goal of protecting life and property and ensuring public safety.  Police Officers address and prevent violations of statutes and ordinances, respond to and investigate complaints and suppress disturbances.

The work consists of varied police assignments, generally relating to routine patrol within an assigned patrol district. The officer observes activity, performs routine preliminary investigations, and pursues in- depth investigations as directed by supervisors, and performs miscellaneous duties in accordance with Department rules and regulations.

While a Police Officer’s work is performed under the supervision of the shift Sergeant, who regularly checks the work and gives specific instructions and assistance when special problems arise; a Police Officer is required to exercise initiative, discretion and independent judgment when faced with emergency situations.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field from an accredited college or university or an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with three (3) years of continuous full-time police officer experience.
  • Candidates must possess and maintain ACT 120 certification or MPOETC Waiver.
  • Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Testing:

  • Qualified Candidates will receive an offer by email to participate in the written test.  The initial testing process for Police Officer Candidates will include three elements:
  • Those applicants that pass, or are not required to take the physical agility/skills test, shall take a written examination.  A passing score for the written test shall be 75%.
    1. The written test is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
  • If required, a physical agility/skills test will be administered to all individuals whose applications have been accepted and will be graded on a pass/fail basis.
